Sharp Index was a partner for the 2022 Healthcare Burnout Symposium, held in-person January 24th-26th, 2022 in San Francisco, CA. The conference is geared towards healthcare professionals affected by burnout and is focused on addressing the burnout epidemic and increasing well-being for physicians, nurses, administrators and more. Sharp Index Awards 

We will be presenting our 2nd annual Sharp Index Awards at the conference. The Sharp Index awards recognize people and organizations that are doing great work to reduce burnout and improve clinician well-being. This year there are awards in the following categories:

Speakers 

The conference has a great line up of speakers ready to discuss clinician burnout and well-being. The opening Keynote speaker for the conference is Robert Pearl, MD, with Burnout and the Culture of Medicine. Dr. Pearl is the former CEO of The Permanente Medical Group, as well as an author, educator, columnist, podcaster, and health advocate.  

Kavitha Reddy, MD will be presenting on Veterans Health Administration’s Whole Health Approach to Supporting Employee Health, Well-being, and Resiliency. Dr. Reddy is an Associate Director of Employee Whole Health in the VHA Office of Patient-Centered Care and Cultural Transformation and an emergency and integrative medicine physician.  

Tuesday’s speakers will start with Tait Shanafelt, MD, who will be presenting Clinician Well-Being: What’s New?.  Dr. Shanafelt is Chief Wellness Officer, Associate Dean, and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University.  

The last speaker of the conference will be Christina Maslach, PhD, presenting The Burnout Challenge. Dr. Maslach is a Professor of Psychology (Emerita) and researcher at the Healthy Workplaces Center at the University of California, Berkeley, and is known for producing the Maslach Burnout Inventory, considered the gold-standard for measuring burnout.
