Recognition Matters. Sharp Index Awards Partnership 2023

Is mental health for physicians and healthcare workers something you work in? Over the past 3 years, we have had annual awards to recognize healthcare leaders who are doing great work in mental health.

Why?

Because the stigma surrounding mental health remains high. Because we celebrate the individuals and community that believes that healthcare can be the healthiest place to work.

Last year, our legacy award winner was Carol Bernstein, MD. You might not know her name, but she has a lifetime of leadership in improving the health of our healthcare industry. You might not now that SCAN Health Plan executives decided patient outcomes needed to improve, or they would not get their bonus. You might now know that the hours you spend in documentation could be reduced with technology. You might now know that organizations exist that provide direct support for clinicians who have job related trauma. You might also need ideas for improvement.

We get asked about how to improve. I usually tell people that the most important intervention is the one that your physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers identify themselves. What is their passion? What matters to them?

Recognition is critical. Not everything in healthcare can be improved overnight, and narratives about healthcare workers being a hero help recognize hard work but do not solve issues with staffing shortages and unhealthy systems.

We invite you to partner with us to improve visibility for organizations and individuals who want both improved systems AND technology through the Sharp Index Awards. Our past winners are great leaders - and great friends. The Sharp Index Awards 2023 will showcase the dedication and innovation of individuals and organizations committed to improving the well-being of clinicians.

You can sign up today to share the good news of healthcare. If you know anyone who would be a good partner to donate to the awards, please let them know.

We will be opening nominations in August.
