When John died I suddenly faced my own humanity in a very real way. I would be raising three children alone. My oldest was in second grade. I thought to myself- there were clearly signs but I didn't know where the limit was.
Building a stronger community for physician support is the goal of the Sharp Registry. To reduce and understand burnout and to move forward by providing coping tools and helping healthcare organizations understand both the cost to them and provide better support.
It will take more than a weekly yoga class to help. My background was in healthcare IT and engagement for physicians, with a splash of marketing as a small business owner. I wanted to create a memory for my children.
Burnout is costing the lives of physicians and costing the lives of patients through burnout and medical error. We want to do more than help reduce suicide- we want to help physicians have a happy practice and find solutions for those who have lost a loved one.
